About the Artist

John Mehan, better known as "Brother John," a self taught artist, has been working in sculpture and metallurgy since 1961.
He has made the beautiful rugged California coast of Big Sur his home, and has connected with the creativity for which Big Sur is known. He has grasped the spiritual beauty that has guided and motivated many other creators of fine art. He imbues this knowledge with the intrinsic value of metal into the creation of art that invites the sun to brighten, and entices the capricious wind to dance.
He fashions gold, silver, bronze and copper into art objects, by forging, shaping and crafting the metals into alluring art objects.
His work ranges from wind chimes to jewelry and sculptures. He manifests his artistic creativity with a spiritual sense of the earth, sea, sun and wind into his sculptures. His work adorns homes, gardens, patios, atriums, terraces
